Olamide Zaccheaus joined the Commanders this offseason, and he brings a proven track record from his time with the Atlanta Falcons and the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite being undrafted in 2019, Zaccheaus has carved out a role as a dependable pass catcher. He has played in 72 games, with 24 starts, and amassed 104 receptions on 171 targets for 1,492 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Quinn's appraisal of Zaccheaus is glowing: "I've been really impressed with Olamide, I thought he's had a really strong camp." His reliable hands and experience make him a strong candidate for the WR2 spot.
Dyami Brown: A Case of Untapped Potential
Dyami Brown, a third-round pick in 2021, has had an uneven career so far. He played in 15 games last season but didn't start any of them, compared to six starts in his rookie year. With 29 career receptions for 476 yards and three touchdowns, Brown's numbers suggest he has the talent but has yet to fully harness it.
The Rookies: Luke McCaffrey and Martavis Bryant
Luke McCaffrey, entering his rookie season, is another name in the mix. Given his lack of professional experience, McCaffrey is more of a long shot. However, Quinn's comments suggest the team is eager to see what he can contribute: "Looking forward to getting Luke some extra work in here."
The Commanders also made a recent splash by signing Martavis Bryant, who has been out of the NFL since 2018. Bryant's previous NFL experience could potentially provide a much-needed boost, but his long absence from the league raises questions about his readiness to contribute immediately.
