Rodgers' troubles began early in the session when he threw an interception just two plays into practice. This mishap was largely influenced by a dropped pass from recently acquired wide receiver Allen Lazard. "Honestly, he expects the same standard that he holds himself to out of everyone else, and today just didn't resemble that at all. I think as an offense we were just a little bit sloppy," Lazard commented.
The issues didn't end there. Rodgers experienced numerous "sacks" during the practice, a testament to the offensive line's struggles. A significant part of the problem seemed to be rooted in the play of Joe Tippmann. The second-round draft pick has been grappling with his snaps since the start of camp, and Monday was no exception. Rodgers faced around half-a-dozen off-target shotgun snaps from Tippmann, forcing the veteran quarterback to jump repeatedly to catch the ball.
"Yeah, he has to work on it. There's clearly something going on," Head Coach Robert Saleh noted, addressing Tippmann's ongoing snapping issues.

The practice took a physical toll on Rodgers as well. At one point, he was stepped on by either Tippmann or offensive lineman John Simpson, adding to the mounting frustrations. Rodgers, who missed all but the first four snaps of the 2023 season due to an Achilles surgery, had otherwise looked sharp during the camp prior to this challenging session.
On the sidelines, Rodgers took the time to work on snapping drills with Tippmann and a coach, emphasizing the importance of getting the fundamental aspects right. This hands-on approach is part of Rodgers' efforts to ensure his teammates meet the high standards he sets for himself.

Tyler Conklin, another member of the Jets' squad, elaborated on Rodgers' influence: "I would say 'demonstrative' is a good word for him. You're talking about one of the best, if not the best quarterback of all time, and his standard and level of play is something a lot of guys haven't seen yet. Even this organization—they haven't really been with him on game day because being with him on the sideline on a Sunday is different."
"I think that's the beauty of playing with a great like that. You have someone that's going to, at all times, hold everybody accountable, no matter who you are. I think that's kind of something that not every team has. I think that's really a blessing at the end of the day to have someone that cares that much and has a standard like that," Conklin added.
Integrating and Elevating

The Jets are coming off a season where they scored a league-low 18 touchdowns, making the stakes this year particularly high. "That's going to become our standard as a team. But to have a Hall of Famer who has won a Super Bowl—been there, done that—I think that's necessary," Conklin concluded, underlining the invaluable experience and expectations Rodgers brings to the team.
